Angie: I don’t see what would be wrong with a skirt and stockings; it sounds very nice to me. Just make sure the skirt isn’t super short.
Juan: Finally a good use for the PSP, although it does seem to have negatively influenced your spelling and punctuation.

So yeah. Oh Mrs. Zana, I’ll ask my sister to come to school after classes are over because she has the day off, but she’ll probably spend the morning resting (actuallly sleeping). She’ll probably want to talk to you and Mr. Kashman, since I’ve told her so many nice things about you (not like there’s anything bad about you guys). I’ll tell her later because she has a choir concert today and will come late tonight.

Lets get off of that subject. Well. I’m really going to miss you guys during Winter Break (also the teachers and staff). I’d rather be at school, learning and doing something productive, than at home sleeping then eating and being bored. Plus, at school I have a chance to talk to my friends and fellow students, while at home I can only talk to my sister. I mean I can talk to you, but only on the phone and on the internet, but it’s more comfortable when I can see the person I’m talking to.

Angie: I love Krispie Kreme! That will be my healthy lunch.
I would love to meet with your sister as well and have her talk to the class about high school and applying for college. I’ll try not to be too disappointed that she chose Amherst over Princeton.
As far as putting pictures, you’re allowed to, I just don’t know how to do it in the comments. My advice would be, go to the wiki, put in a picture, then switch to text editor (not graphic editor) and see what the HTML code is. Copy that code here. It might work.

Armine: I’m not sure why you wouldn’t have an opinion about a quote you chose, unless it was a very unimportant quote, for example something like, “Jonas parked his bike.” Give me an example of a quote you want to use, and I’ll see if I can help.

Does anyone celebrate christmas like me? i think that the way we celebrate christmas is cool and weird. We do something called a gift exchange. Has anyone heard of it? if you have, then great; but if you haven’t, then this is what we do : First we put everyone’s name in the whole family on different pieces of little papers. then we fold them. after that we put them in a cup, basket, or hat. next, one person at a time picks a folded piece of paper and whoevers’ name is written on the paper is the person that you HAVE to give a gift to on Christmas Day. On December 24 every year, we have a get-together at my cousin’s grandma’s house. At exactly 12:00 am on December 25, the oldest person in the whole family starts the gift exchange. Last year, the gift exchange ended at 5;00 am. This year , the person i have to give is my older brother.

Rafael: Any work you do will count. If it’s in the History Alive notebook, you can get 1/2 credit on anything you make up.
For your “Giver” reading journal make sure you have a quote from each chapter. I noticed that your 1st quote is not from chapter 1. I’m glad to see that you’re working so hard.

Armine: Your response should include your opinion. For example, if you write about Rosemary asking for release, you should say if you think she had a good reason to do what she did, or if you think that what she chose to do was awful and that she should have come up with a better solution, like Jonas did. If all you say is, “This quote means that Rosemary couldn’t bear to go on living,” then you really haven’t done the assignment. Why don’t you copy and paste one of you answers here so I can see it and let you know if it’s O..K.

I Love Shopping! I mean like what kind of a girl wouldn’t love shopping. Anyways, the comment that ” I ” made @ 3:10 today was actually my older brother Kevin. He was trying to rap like the artist that made the song ” We Fly High.” This is what happened: I was playing on the internet when I decided to go on the blog to see if anyone was on. Then I needed to use the bathroom. While I was at the bathroom, Kevin sat at the computer and decided to write a comment. By the time I got back, the comment had been made. And that’s what happened. Armine: Go to http://studentjournals.wikispaces.com/ to type in your reading journal. Your journal entry is O.K., but for other chapters try to pick a quote that really touched your heart; a quote that made you think, or upset you. Then, really talk about YOUR feelings. With the quote you picked, I’m not sure why it matters one way or another that Lily is angry. It’s kind of nice that the parents talk with her and get her to understand why the other kid might hare annoyed her. Other than that, so what? How did YOU feel about the whole sharing of feelings? Would you like your parents to talk to you that way, to have the time to really listen to you every single night? Or, would you find it boring to have to share with your parents every night? Anyone else care to comment?

Angie: I think your opinion doesn’t need to be more than a couple of sentences. If someone REALLY needed to improve their grade, they could write a whole paragraph for each chapter. I’m more interested in seeing what you think than in seeing how long you can write. Depth rather than length.
Armine: You don’t need to print out the journal if you put it on the wiki. On the 1st day back after vacation I’ll collect everyone’s and just ask the people who wrote on the wiki to write me a little note saying, “My journal is on the wiki.” BTW, you need to put your journal on your OWN page on the student journals wiki, not on the home page. I wrote you further instructions on the wiki.
As for your 2nd question, I can’t change how the blog works after you hit “submit comment”.

Rafael: It’s probably the correct version of Winn-DIxie. They probably released a special edition with pictures when the movie came out. Check and make sure that it’s the right author, and that it doesn’t say something like, “Retold by,” or “Based on the novel by.” I’m really proud of you for taking your English work so seriously over vacation. Keep it up 2nd semester and you’ll see your grades zoom up.

Armine: I’m not sure I understand your question. If you do the reading journal for The Giver, AND read 1/2 hour a day and mark the books you read on your Dec. and Jan. reading logs, then your English grade will go up. Extra credit means EXTRA; you don’t have to do it. If I’m still not answering your question, reword it and ask again.

If you want extra credit for reading “Esperanza Rising” you will need to answer the questions that I handed out before vacation started. You do not need to write a reader’s response journal like you are doing for “The GIver”. I’m not sure what you mean by, “the questions that we read in the book.” Please explain.

Armine: It says right on the blog, just before the list of questions, “as many as you can.” Remember, this is for extra credit. If you just want to read and enjoy the book, that’s fine too. It’s a great story! Mark it down on your December reading log.

After vacation, when we get back to school, you will. But, don’t do it now because you don’t know what questions I’m going to ask. If I told you the questions now, it wouldn’t be fair to the people who don’t have Internet at home or who aren’t reading the blog.

Mrs.Zana everytime I write something on the wiki, and press enter to go to the next line, it gives me twice as much space as the regular one. Can you fix it?

Armine: Your wiki page looks fine to me. I don’t see that you’ve added anything to it since Dec. 27. I can’t fix any formatting problems, but you might try using a different program to get on the Internet, if you have one. Firefox works better than Safari and Internet Explorer.
