Changes
Title: Changes lyrics
Artist: 2Pac (Tupac Shakur)
Come on come on
I see no changes. Wake up in the morning and I ask myself,
“Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?”
I’m tired of bein’ poor and even worse I’m black.
My stomach hurts, so I’m lookin’ for a purse to snatch.
Cops give a damn about a negro? Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he’s a hero.
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares? One less hungry mouth on the welfare.
First ship ‘em dope & let ‘em deal the brothers.
Give ‘em guns, step back, and watch ‘em kill each other.
“It’s time to fight back”, that’s what Huey said.
2 shots in the dark now Huey’s dead.
I got love for my brother, but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other. We gotta start makin’ changes.
Learn to see me as a brother ’stead of 2 distant strangers.
And that’s how it’s supposed to be.
How can the Devil take a brother if he’s close to me?
I’d love to go back to when we played as kids,
but things change, and that’s the way it is.
[Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
(Come on, come on) That’s just the way it is. Things’ll never be the same.
That’s just the way it is. aww yeah…
[Repeat]
I see no changes. All I see is racist faces.
Misplaced hate makes disgrace for races we under.
I wonder what it takes to make this one better place…
let’s erase the wasted.
Take the evil out the people, they’ll be acting right.
‘Cause mo’ black than white is smokin’ crack tonight.
And only time we chill is when we kill each other.
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other.
And although it seems heaven sent,
we ain’t ready to see a black President, uhh.
It ain’t a secret don’t conceal the fact…
the penitentiary’s packed, and it’s filled with blacks.
But some things will never change.
Try to show another way, but they stayin’ in the dope game.
Now tell me what’s a mother to do?
Bein’ real don’t appeal to the brother in you.
You gotta operate the easy way.
“I made a G today” But you made it in a sleazy way.
Sellin’ crack to the kids. “I gotta get paid,”
Well hey, well that’s the way it is.
[Bridge]
[Talking:]
We gotta make a change…
It’s time for us as a people to start makin’ some changes.
Let’s change the way we eat, let’s change the way we live
and let’s change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn’t working so it’s on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.
And still I see no changes. Can’t a brother get a little peace?
There’s war on the streets & the war in the Middle East.
Instead of war on poverty,
they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me.
And I ain’t never did a crime I ain’t have to do.
But now I’m back with the facts givin’ ‘em back to you.
Don’t let ‘em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp smack you up.
You gotta learn to hold ya own.
They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone.
But tell the cops they can’t touch this.
I don’t trust this, when they try to rush I bust this.
That’s the sound of my tune. You say it ain’t cool, but mama didn’t raise no fool.
And as long as I stay black, I gotta stay strapped & I never get to lay back.
‘Cause I always got to worry ’bout the pay backs.
Some buck that I roughed up way back… comin’ back after all these years.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat. That’s the way it is. uhh
[Bridge 'til fade]
Some things never change.

QU3STION 1:
We think it is between confusion and sadness.

QU3STION 2:
Tupac is trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that some people are racist and they dont like black people. Tupac is also trying to figure out how to live wihout stealing, selling crack to kids,or shooting people(blasting people according to Genesis) but the temtation of doing wrong is winning him over.

1. it is a very sad song because it is true.
2.You die faster if you’re in a gang.
3.It can affect the mood.
4.Should I blast myself? If he should commit suicide.
5.They are structered by what the lyrics mean. They are structured by what the lyrics meen. They are normal sentences. The sentences are both short and long.No the puncuation is normal.it affects the tone.
6.It can affect both because it just going to be repetition.

3. 2pac is saying the truth in his song because it is true that black people suffer. Because most black people are always dealing wiht drugs and gangs, killing, and also dealing with racist people because they feel like they can’t fit in.

2.We also think that 2pac is also md because people are racist. He is trying to figure out how to deal with all the bad things like stealing, selling drugs to other people and using it, and killing and shooting people.

QU3STION 3:
The thing about this song is that Tupac is trying to confuse people because at the beginning he starts talking intellectual and that’s how he began to really speak. At the age of 17 Tupac moved out of his house because of the fact that his mother was a crack addict. Therefore he moved into his friends house and then a very nice woman started to help Tupac, avid reader,to speak how he did in the beginning of the song. The unusual part of the ending of the song is that he starts stopping to talk how he does, intellectual, and begins to talk like a thug because he doesn’t want to show his homeboys that he has changed his ways, that he will always be a thug, and that in his heart he knows that he can never stop his ways. Also to show people that thugish he was thugish he will always be.
It changes teh tome because it shows he is really smart but he still doesn’t want to show people that he is especially to his homies.

QU3STION 4:
Metaphor:
Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he’s a hero.
Answer:
We think this is a piece of figurative language because when he states that he’s a hero,he never specifies that he is like a hero but just insinuates it.
Sensory:
“It’s time to fight back”, that’s what Huey said.
2 shots in the dark now Huey’s dead.
Answer:
We think this is a sensory image because when he says in the dark that must mean its night time.
The author uses this because it shows more feeling to the song and it helps the reader find out what he went through.

1. The toon (mood) of changes is disapointed and mad.
2. The meaning of the song is that 2pac wants to change stuff to live in a better world. There isn’t anything confusing.
3. His words are very affective to the real world because he is saying how he wants to change the world.
4.There are no similies or metaphores.
5. The sentence is structured to talk about something different in every paragraph. Most of them are normal sentences. Most of the sentences are ok, length. Some of the punctuations are special for example smokin’. They make th song more special.
6.The sentance is structured to talk about something different every paragraph, most of them are normal sentences, most of the sentence are ok length, some of the punctuaion are special for a example smokin, they make the song more emotional.

QU3STION 5:
One way the punctuation is different is because he starts talking slang instead of talking normal vocabulary.
The lines are even sentences because songs don’t have sentences they have stanzas and verses.
This affects the tone and meaning because he speaks different and some people may not understand what he is try to let the world know.
March 29th, 2007 at 11:26 am
QUESTION 6:
It affects the tone by using repetion because when he repeats the words more and more people start to understand it.

4.We think that a metaphor in the song is “Pull the trigger, kill a nigga,he’s a hero.”A sensory image is”2 shots in the dark now Huey’s dead.” this is a sensory image because he says that it is dark.
March 29th, 2007 at 11:46 am
5.The song “changes” normal sentences.
