O.K., let's try this. The poet writes using expressions everyone is familiar with and are "old news" to his readers to show that the emotions that he is expressing are things that everyone has ______________ and aren't anything new or unusual. Fill in the blank. . .

Maybe the poet has *used* cliches to express more than what he means to show more than just words.

We don't know!!!~T_T~
Probably the poet uses cliches since they are his style.Maybe the cliches are important to him because they create the world that we see he lives in.It could be that he is lazy to make up new phrases.People will understand the song easily since the cliches are so familiar. The cliches freely express feelings in a simple yet classy way that will make sense to most people.

1. Say what the tone (mood) of the song is.
It’s depressing at first since it talks about how a guy sees a lonely girl and he wants to make her his.
2. Figure out the meaning of the song, or the meaning of part of the song.
Clearly, the singer sings things that represents true love and the fact that he wants to make the girl happy by being in her life.He says things like I’ll be the hope that you’re looking for and I’ll be the truth in the light.
3. Comment on the words the author has chosen to use. How do they affect the tone or meaning of the song?
They do not make a difference. They bring up a strong point, but they aren’t so difficult to comprehend.
A cliche is an overused expression. We know that much. But we don’t really think it serves an actual purpose…Maybe it’s because the poet likes those lines..?Is there even a purpose???We don’t really know.
4. Find examples of figurative language (metaphors, similes, personification, idioms, hyperbole) What do they mean? Why does the author use them?
The metaphors he uses expresses the strong feelings one may have for their love.He says things like baby if for reasons what you’re looking for I’ll be yours and like a movie that you’ve seeen but you got to watch just one more time.
Ex.1-Like a thief in the night Let me steal your heart away=
Let me love you and make you feel better.
Ex.2-Did you know that baby you’re the bluebird in my sky=
you are the only one I see, the only one I need
Ex.3-I’ll be a new sensation one you’ve never had before=
I’ll be different from the other guys, I’ll treat you right
Ex.4-But that smile you’re wearing
It’s a beautiful disguise
It’s just something you put on to hide the emptiness inside
And you seem so lonely=
You are two-faced; you pretend you’re okay but you aren’t,
and you’re lonely but you can’t help it
5. How are the sentences put together? How does this affect the poem’s tone and meaning?
The sentences are short and they do not really affect the tone or meaning. They just kinda show us the person’s world in which he’d like to make the girl his own. They are put together in a way to show the depth in his heart.
6. Are the lines short or long? How does this affect the poem’s tone and meaning?
Some are long but most are short. The words make the sentences more serene.
7. punctuation How does this affect the poem’s tone and meaning?
There is no punctuation, although it could be more questionable with a few more …s.
9. repetition How does this affect the poem’s tone and meaning?
The chorus is our repitition, and it is like a summary that explains his opening his heart since he wants to be with her.
10. rhyme How does this affect the poem’s tone and meaning?
There is not much rhyme throughout the whole song. When there is some, it gives the poem a better beat.

Go find out what a cliche is? Why would a poet bother to use them?

3. I think many of his expressions are cliches. Why would he choose to use a cliche?
4. Let's have some more examples - this poem has so much figurative language

Excellent job
