Song Lyrics: In the End
(It starts with)
One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on / but didn’t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried
so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)
Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

1. The mood isn’t just sad. How else does the author feel?
2. Sad and what else?
3.Give some examples of words you felt were powerful. What else do you notice about his word choice? Are the words hard/easy short/long? Why do you think he picks words like this - what effect does his choice of words have on the reader?

The mood of the song is about being heartbroken, deppressed, and sad. It shows how love doesn’t always last forever.

Good answer Maya, Lily, Michael, and Karen. But, is that all you’ve written in an hour????

The meaning of the song is how a guy gets dumped by his girlfriend and now he is depressed, heartbroken, and sad. This song also has metaphors. An example of one of these metaphors is “acting like I was part of your property”. He uses this metaphor to describe how she treated him like she owned him and he was supposed to do everything she told him to do.

The author doesn’t use very large words, but the words that he uses are perfect for what he is trying to express. The words are very descriptive for this specific song.

There are metaphors in the song that we already mentioned. Another metaphor would be (watch it fly as the pendolum swings). This metaphor means as something fast is happening another imporatnt event is occuring. He is saying this because time is flying.

Mursal and Sandra why did you put the rubric as a post?
April 6th, 2006 at 7:42 am
The sentences are put together in a rhyming order. It does affect the tone of the song because if he did not rhyme he would not sound as depressed as he sounds now.
April 6th, 2006 at 7:48 am
The sentences in the song are both short and long. This does not affect the tone or meaning of the song because the tone would still be the same and the meaning would also be the same.

The tone of the song is sad and the guy probably feels like he will never feel the same when he was with his girlfriend. The song is about how time passes by quickly and right by you. The words he chose were powerful and let people know how he feels. “ The clock ticks life away”. It means that every time the clock ticks time passes by really quickly. He uses it because he’s depressed. They are put together by short phrases and it makes it short and clear about how the author feels. Most of the lines are short but a couple of them are pretty long. This affects the tone because behind the words there are feelings and we have to look beyond them. In this song there are no punctuations. Rhythm of the song affects the tone because if he did not rhyme he would not sound so depressed as he shows it in the song. Gives people a chance to know what the words mean in different ways. It gives the lyrics a little more meaning and affection, and it also shows how much he is depressed about the situation.

1. the mood is sad and partly mad
2. the song means that we shouldnt waste time with people that dont respect you and with things that dont help your life and the line ” Treating me like I was part of her property… im surprised it got this far ” it means that you shouldnt waste time with people who dont like you for you.

1) The mood of the song is sad, depressing, but than again it is a happy because the writer doesn’t care any more.
2) The meaning of the song is that you sacrafice so much but if what you want isn’t worth it then in the end it doesn’t even matter. Even though you didn’t know what you wanted wasn’t worth it, you wasted it all just to watch it go.
3) The language is easy because is doesn’t really have any bad words. It affects the tone and the meaning becuase you can understand every single word.
4) “Watch the time go right out the window.” It means that you sometimes don’t even notice how quickly time passes by and by the time you notice too much time has gone by.
5) The sentences are structuredn by the short sentences. They aren’t really sentences, they are phrases.
6) The rhytmn is important to the song because if the words are sad and slow but the rhytmn is fast, then the song won’t have the same meaning it’s suppose to.

1. The tone of the poem is about sad emotion
2. The meaning of the poem is that time and memories are passing by so fast that you can’t stop it
3. The words in the poem are mostly easy but some are hard. The words in the poem, they effect the poem by expressing what they want to let the people know strongly
4. One quote in the poem that is a metaphor is “Actins like I was part of of your property”. A sensory image in this song is ” Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings”. This means that time is going by as fast as swings move. The autor uses them to help you understand what he is saying.

2.It’s about a person who dumps his girl and is sad because he waisted all his time on her. He’s sad because she mistreated him. He’s also suprised because the relationship got so far while she was mistreating him.He thinks that the mistreament didn’t really matter to him.

1. The tone of this song is sad and depressed because of the words and the way he sings it. If you had heard the song then the way he sings it sounds depressed.
2. The meaning of the song is explaining that he did something good and made it far and then he did something bad and he lost it all and in the end it doesn’t even matter to him.
3. We think that the words in this song are simple and easy to understand. In this song you might have to think for a second what it means but they you understand it very well.
4. There is figurative languge in this song but not very much of it. For example when he said he “had to fall to lose it all” but he didn’t litterally fall. Also when he said “fly by as the pendulum swings” because noone litterally flew by as the pendulum swung. This is really just when something went by really fast.
5. The sentences are structured in a way where they are in a pattern, and repeat a lot. The lines in this song are pretty short. In this song there is very little punctuation. The sentence structure doesn’t really affect the song that much.
6. The repition effects the songs meaning because it makes the things that he is saying more important.
