Fabiana: Sounds like you’re having TOO much fun.
Today I helped out a young mom who is setting up a library for her kids’ school. We went to a HUGE warehouse full of kids books in La Puente (East LA). We spent 6 hours picking out tons of books; we estimated about 600, plus a list we had ready of another 400. As you know, I’m a bit of a book lover (fanatic??), so this was my idea of fun. At the end, we were allowed to take some free books that they couldn’t sell, so I got a pile for our class library (yes, it’s still OURS; you can still use it). Also a couple of book posters. One of the books is supposed to be for people who liked “The Westing Game,” which is a lot of my students. So, now you know what teachers do for fun

Hey everybody - thanks for writing. So far I’ve learned a bunch of cool stuff about teaching, but I haven’t been out to the beach or seen the sun yet!
So, I think I need to go have some fun in the sun. 
I’m glad you’re liking Miss Zamel. So, am I now Mrs. Z and she is Miss Z???
I’ll be giving my presentation on Friday morning, 8 a.m. Hawaii time, which is 11 a.m. for you in CA. It would be great if you all could be online at that time.

Hey everybody! It’s great to hear from all of you. Yes, I made it to the beach and the pool. After that we drove about 45 minutes and walked around an AMAZING hotel. The pool there had a river, like they have at Hurricane Harbor, but with little waterfalls too. You can look it up on the Internet: http://www.grandwailea.com/ Rooms there start at $500 per night, with the most expensive costing $12,000 a night!!! Can you imagine? After that we had a nice dinner at a place called Longhi’s. (It was not very expensive and we got free pizza bread before the meal) Later, I read in the paper that Paris Hilton had eaten there a few nights ago.
Today we are going snorkeling. I love looking at the fish close up. Hawaii is not as hot as the valley - its about 88 by day and 70 by night. But, the ocean is really warm and calm, so you can easily swim in it.
I’m giving my presentation on Friday at 8:00 a.m. Because of the time change, that will be 11:00 a.m. for you guys.
I’m glad you’re having fun with Miss Zamel. Has she shown you Math Mayhem yet? It’s a fun online game, but very nerve wracking.

I think it’s weird seeing the new 6 graders names on the blog ( i think i know some them like ElizabethR). I’m used to seeing the one’s from my class. I miss almost everyone from my class so much.
My summer is okay. We have done some fun things and I can’t wait till the annual family vacation to Las Vegas! Every year (for 2 years so far,) my whole family goes to Las Vegas for 3-5 days starting on July 25. This year we are staying for 4 days and 3 nights!
I’m also looking forward to our 2nd annual-family-vacation to Hurricane Harbor or Six Flags. If we go to Hurricane Harbor, were going to go on August 9. If we go to Six Flags we’ll go on August 17 or 18 ,we’re not sure. Well I have to go. Bye!

Glad you had a fun summer Dalia! I’ve been at MMS learning and teaching about using technology in the classroom. It’s a lot of fun. I learned that would should have had our iMovie pictures up for 7 seconds, it would have worked better. Ah well, next summer
I’ve been trying to go swimming every day too - it’s good exercise. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.
Michelle: sounds like you’ve been very busy having fun. I went to Santa Barbara one day, but we didn’t make it as far as Solvang. It’s so beautiful in S.B., and fun to see all the stores on State St.
